DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered why despite heavy capital injections in
  intervention models such as the Sustainability\, Stability and Security I
 nitiative in Africa "3S" and Africa-Europe relations\, among others\, have
  not paid climate security dividends in the Sahel region? Research finding
 s have revealed three crucial militating factors. Results indicate that su
 stainability\, stability\, and security hinge on the nature of the domesti
 c political economy of the Sahel region. The political economy is characte
 rised by two fundamental institutions: extractive political institutions a
 nd extractive economic institutions. These two institutions have combined 
 to sire state fragility. Findings show that the extractive political insti
 tutions are scared of creative destruction\, replacing the old with the ne
 w. The Africa-EU dialogue is a threat to the political economy of African 
 leaders.
