DESCRIPTION:As tensions between the superpowers continue to intensify\, it
  is becoming clear that science and technology will play a decisive role i
 n deciding the outcome. Small states and middle powers are increasingly pr
 essed to rethink their policies not only on issues such as trade and secur
 ity policy but increasingly on science and technology. Israel\, the “sta
 rtup nation” is finding itself under increased pressure from both the Un
 ited States and China. This talk will explore how the current global power
  shift influences policies in the innovation and scientific research field
 s. It will discuss potential implications of the shifting nexus of science
 \, technology and security has for policy makers and researchers and how m
 iddle countries can find a balance between competing geopolitical actors.
