 actor in global climate change. At the same time\, the country is already 
 more affected by extreme weather than ever before. In response\, China's l
 eadership is propagating the concept of "ecological civilisation". Often c
 ondemned in the West as a climate sinner\, China has now enacted extensive
  environmental legislation and is pushing low-emission technologies and su
 stainable energy supply with subsidies and innovation policies like no oth
 er country. \nWhat are China's climate goals? Has Chinese modernisation fa
 iled as far as sustainability is concerned\, or is Chinese-style "environm
 ental authoritarianism" a model for the future? How does the geopolitical 
 showdown influence Beijing's climate policy? And which fields of cooperati
 on between China and Germany should be further developed?
