Iran continues to enforce the blockade through the use of force. To this end, Iran possesses credible capabilities that are not likely to disappear in the foreseeable future. In addition to the missile attacks that Iran’s neighboring countries are currently experiencing on a regular basis, the laying of sea mines is also highly probable. Iran possesses various models capable of destroying entire ships and has the capability to deploy them, according to Dr. Moritz Brake.

He expressed skepticism regarding potential protection missions aimed at ensuring passage through the strait. Iran possesses significant capabilities that would push even modern warships to their limits. Furthermore, the German Navy’s capabilities are limited. It is not in a position to represent its own interests globally. Moreover, a protection mission would put both equipment and personnel at risk.

The neighboring states are a possible solution to the blockade of the strait, according to Dr. Moritz Brake. They would be particularly hard hit by the blockade, which could encourage them to launch a joint military operation against Iran.
