A total of 24 students from various countries will spend the coming semesters exploring key issues of international security and strategic decision-making together.
As keynote speaker, the faculty welcomed Prof. Dr. Erika de Wet, Professor of International Law, who will be contributing to the program through both teaching and research. In her address, she emphasized the importance of the program’s interdisciplinary orientation:
“Global security issues can only be understood through the interaction of law, politics, and strategy. It is precisely this connection that makes the program so special.”
– Prof. Dr. Erika de Wet
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schlie, one of the initiators of the program, also addressed the students. With a smile, he remarked:
“Even though Bonn is not Berlin, it is a wonderful place to live — and Paris is only a short train ride away.”
– Prof. Dr. Schlie
He also praised the students for their curiosity and engagement:
“The 24 new students followed the event with great attention and asked insightful questions. A successful start to what promises to be a strong winter semester.”
Among the speakers and guests were Prof. Dr. Matthias Herdegen, one of the program’s conceptual founders, and Dr. Monika Wulf-Mathies, who kindly accepted the invitation to attend the opening ceremony.
The event provided an opportunity for academic exchange, networking, and the beginning of a new intellectual journey in an international learning environment.
