Teaching at CASSIS
Researchers at CASSIS offer a number of courses every semester at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. More detailed information can be found in the digital course catalog BASIS.
CASSIS-Lecture series
CASSIS regularly organizes lecture series on strategically relevant topics. Our lecture series are characterized by the fact that different experts from science, politics and business are invited to the University of Excellence Bonn for each session to discuss important aspects of the main topic of the CASSIS lecture series. Of course, the CASSIS lecture series is not only open to members of the University of Bonn, but to all interested persons. We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our lecture series.
CASSIS-Digital series
As part of the CASSIS digital series, important strategic topics from the CASSIS research area are presented and discussed in a way that is effective for the public. The aim of these teaching and discussion formats is to raise awareness of pressing strategic issues among the widest possible audience, even beyond our many face-to-face formats, and to engage in direct discussion with recognized national and international experts through digital exchange.
Katekisama Program
The Katekisama program is a new model of academic cooperation and collaboration between the Universities of Basel (Switzerland) and Bonn (Germany). The program offers young scholars and senior researchers an original and dynamic platform of interdisciplinary, cooperative education and research that enables them to critically explore and analyze today’s global realities. The scholars and PhD students benefit from the excellence, experience and global expertise of all three institutions in the social sciences and humanities, and from their new and exclusive forms of academic mobility.
Bonn Future Lab on Strategic Foresight
The Bonn Future Lab on Strategic Foresight is the second part of our International Security Forum Bonn. It is a multi-day format consisting of two core segments: Firstly, an international conference day focusing on global megatrends with a view to strategic sustainability issues. In a second step, this international conference day will be combined with a Strategic Foresight Workshop, in which CASSIS and its partners will impart techniques and methods of strategic foresight to around 30 young multipliers ("decision-makers of the day after tomorrow") who have previously taken part in the current scientific debates of the renowned national and international experts of the international conference day. The Bonn Future Lab is organized jointly with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy for International Politics (AIA NRW) and the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research. It is also part of the CASSIS project Sicherheitsforschung.NRW.

Summer School "Geography of Hunger in a Multi-Crisis World"
Hunger is the most dramatic manifestation of the socio- economic, governance, and environmental challenges facing humanity today. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN, 2015) identified a set of measurable Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the ambitious aim to eradicate hunger by 2030. The seminar will analyze the complex issue of the current geography of hunger in a multi-crisis world. Two learning outcomes are pursued: To understand the causes behind the persistence of hunger in the 21st century and to amiliarize with the main international cooperation initiatives aimed at solving this issue within the framework of the second Sustainable Development Goal of "Zero Hunger" (SDG-2).
