Profile

Professor Dr. Birgit Ulrike Münch is the Vice Rector for International Affairs. Her area of responsibility includes cooperation with universities, research institutions and research networks worldwide, the University’s integration into the European research landscape and the international organizations and institutions based in the region, in particular the United Nations in the UN city of Bonn.

In addition to her position as Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Ms. Münch is a professor of general art history with a focus on the art of the Netherlands. Her primary research interests include Flemish, Dutch, German, and French painting, prints, and sculpture. Of particular interest here is the epoch of the early modern period (ca. 1500-1800), as well as the transitional decades preceding and following it, since this period still contains medieval elements on the one hand, and on the other hand already shows manifold modern aspects.
