Dr. Iulian Romanyshyn is a research fellow of the Charlemagne Prize Academy. Prior to joining CASSIS, Iulian was an adjunct lecturer at the Graduate School of Arts and Science’s Program in International Relations at New York University and a junior lecturer of European studies at Maastricht University. He holds a PhD in political science from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. In the past, Iulian was a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence and the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He also worked in the Policy Department of DG External Policies at the European Parliament and in the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). Iulian holds a Master’s degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges and a Master’s degree in Analysing Europe from Maastricht University. His research has been published in various academic journals, including the Journal of Common Market Studies, International Journal, Journal of European Integration, andEuropean Foreign Affairs Review. Iulian's research has been acknowledged with the 2018 Global Strategy PhD Prize awarded by Egmont – the Royal Institute for International Relations and the European Security and Defence College.
Iulian is currently on leave to research on Euro-Atlantic security issues at the NATO Defense College, where he was awarded with the Partnership for Peace (PfP) research fellowship.

Iulian Romanyshyn moderated the panel about "The Return of Great Power Politics and the Role of the European Union" with Hans-Gert Pöttering, Robin Niblett, Anne Deighton and Brahma Chellaney.
