Profile

Since April 2022, Dr. Ying Huang has been employed as a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing. From December 2015 to March 2022, Dr. Huang was a Research Fellow at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, first at the Center for Global Studies (CGS)/Chair of International Relations and from September 2020 at the Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies. There, she led the research project "Infrastructures of Data" as part of the research group "Infrastructures of Chinese Modernity and their Global Constitutive Effects" (Prof. Dr. Maximilian Mayer) funded by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Culture and Science.

Dr. Ying Huang completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Jiangnan University (Wuxi, China) and her Master's degree at the Department of Politics and International Relations at Tongji University (Shanghai, China). She received her PhD from the University of Bonn in April 2019 with a comprehensive study of the German China policy after reunification. She has been affiliated with the German Research Centre (DFZ) of Tongji University (Shanghai) since October 2017. She has also frequently worked as a presenter and interpreter in Germany for the Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
