Rohstoffe für die Zukunft

May 23, 2023 | 16:00 - 17:30 Uhr Uhr | Online via Zoom

Second event of the digital dialogue series "Strategic management of climate change in Latin America".

The importance of Latin America's contribution to the development of green energy solutions cannot be underestimated. Strategic minerals from the region are essential for the production of green energy technologies, and their role in global supply chains is becoming increasingly valuable to key emerging markets such as China, the United States and Europe as these countries seek to transition to green energy sources. This is also underscored by the fact that many of the countries in the region have become major producers of lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper and other metals and minerals necessary for the production of green energy technologies. As the world transitions to a green economy, Latin America's role in global supply chains and its contribution to the global green energy transition will remain critical.

Some questions we will focus on include: How can Latin America's commodities be leveraged to help key emerging markets transition to a green economy? What policies, incentives, and investments are needed to ensure that Latin American countries benefit economically from their role in global supply chains and the transition to green energy?
