Political scientist and CASSIS Fellow Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinemann-Grüder sharply criticizes all "hesitators and procrastinators" who advocate a dirty peace at the expense of Ukraine. In the end, this would only benefit warlord Putin - and increase the risk for the West.

Russia has been waging a devastating war of aggression against Ukraine since February 2022 - and there is no end in sight to the bloodshed. In recent weeks, the Russian military has stepped up its pressure on several sections of the front and pushed back the Ukrainian troops, who are increasingly suffering from a lack of ammunition for their artillery.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently spoken several times of a difficult situation and has urgently warned the West not to cut back on aid to his country, especially arms deliveries, calling for the same protection for his country as for Israel, which was able to successfully fend off a massive Iranian drone and missile attack with the help of Western allies. Because if Ukraine were to lose against Russia, Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin would bring the war closer to the West, warned Selensky.

Against this backdrop, political scientist and CASSIS Fellow Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinemann-Grüder from the University of Bonn sharply criticizes the attitude of a number of politicians in Germany who are advocating a "dirty peace" at the expense of Ukraine.
