Prof. Dr. Volker Kronenberg began by explaining that the decline in individual involvement in local politics is due to several factors. For some, lack of time plays a decisive role. Others, on the other hand, are frightened off by the administrative work that voluntary work as a local politician entails. From the political scientist's point of view, however, it should not be forgotten that many young people are politically active in other ways, for example by participating in demonstrations and other public rallies.
