According to the author, China and Russia share a common goal: they seek to challenge the world order that has long been dominated by the United States. The speed with which the U.S. is now undermining this order has even surprised China, according to Prof. Dr. Gu. However, the division of the West is welcomed in Beijing.

Prof. Dr. Gu emphasizes that China’s objective is not to replace the United States as a global power or assume the role of a new world police force, as this would be far too costly.

The article highlights that China is primarily focused on creating an order in which different political systems and economic models can coexist and engage in trade. This approach is reflected in China’s trade relations with countries such as Iran and Russia.
