Prof. Dr. Thimm advocated for a "national-European" German education system with its own software infrastructure for schools, funded at the federal level. Germany has sufficient technological expertise, but must prevent the dominance of new providers from creating systematic dependencies. Monopoly structures should not restrict the education system's scope for action.

Against the backdrop of a second "digital pact" (Digitalpakt 2) and the special fund (Sondervermögen), Prof. Dr. Thimm urged that these instruments be used specifically to strengthen digital independence. Finally, she emphasized the importance of reformed computer science education in schools that combines technical knowledge with social reflection skills.

Professor Dr. Caja Thimm is Professor of Media Studies and Intermediality at the University of Bonn and leads the Department "Media Studies".
