2025: A review of security policies

2025: A review of security policies

16. December 2025 / 6:30-8:00 p.m. / online event

The year 2025 was marked by profound upheavals in international politics. Russia's ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, the war in Gaza, and the uncertainties in transatlantic relations following Donald Trump's re-election have put Europe's foreign policy capabilities to the test.

As part of the Franco-German Strategic Dialogue, two renowned experts from France and Germany will take stock of these developments: What responses did Paris and Berlin find last year – and where do the differences remain? On this basis, opportunities and challenges for 2026 will be discussed – from European security and climate protection to economic stability.

The event is being held in cooperation with the Institut français Bonn, the Centre Ernst Robert Curtius (CERC), the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, and the Bonn University Group for Foreign and Security Policy (BHAS), as well as in media partnership with the ARTE program “Le Dessous des Cartes” (With Open Cards).
