In the interview, the political scientist explained that the CDU had emerged from the local elections as the “clear winner.” The Greens had performed worse in the last elections than five years ago, as future issues had not been the main concern of most voters in the last elections. Commenting on the SPD's election results, Prof. Dr. Kronenberg said that the party should refrain from “glossing over” its historic election defeat in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the end of the discussion, Prof. Dr. Kronenberg also examined the above-average election results of the AfD in the Ruhr region. The citizens of the Ruhr region “are frustrated” and “fed up with the politics of unfulfilled promises,” according to Prof. Dr. Kronenberg.
