Safe in the picture - One film. One topic. One discussion about security policy.
March 2, 2026 | 6:30pm till 10pm | Lennéstraße 6, Room 4.001, 53113 Bonn
What in the film is fiction – what is reality? We will address this question in the second event in our discussion series, to which we cordially invite you in cooperation with the Young Society for Security Policy (JGSP), Bonn section. Together, we will engage in conversation based on a film about security policy.
Since films stimulate thought, reveal dynamics, and raise questions, we would like to use a political thriller with geopolitical explosive power as a starting point for new perspectives. How easily can nuclear materials fall into the hands of terrorist networks, and how closely must international security agencies work together to prevent this?
Join us for a film that highlights the central security policy challenges of our time—from nuclear deterrence to the need for transnational cooperation, which is more relevant than ever in light of the expiration of New START. At the same time, the film highlights the danger of hybrid threats, which have also manifested themselves in recent years through cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns.
Our expert will explain the historical background, classify the real conflicts and actors, and discuss with you what lessons can be learned for today's politics. We are particularly pleased to welcome students from the University of Bonn to this event. Security policy affects us all – and our association opens the door to dialogue.
To this end, we have invited Sönke Marahrens (Senior Non-Residential Fellow at ISPK, Head of the Center for Digitalization of the German Armed Forces) to contextualize the film, highlight current developments, and then discuss them with you.
Please note that registration is required.
