Iran: How the West Betrays Its Values and Interests

15. April 2025 / 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. / Bonner Universitätforum & digital

Multiple Crises, the Advance of Autocracies, Wars: The Current Global Political Situation is More Complex and Uncertain than Ever Before.

In this context, when we turn our attention to Iran, we observe that its massive regional political ambitions, nuclear and missile programs, and the disastrous human rights situation have been largely ignored by the West. Is there a blame to be placed on Western politics for the escalation in the Middle East? Ali Fathollah-Nejad, a recognized political scientist and Middle East expert, advocates for a paradigm shift in Iran policy and outlines key pillars for a more sustainable policy that takes regional-specific aspects into account.

The event is organized in cooperation with the GSP, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, the Bundeswehr Reservists' Association, and the  Rotary E-Club Cologne.
