Private Actors in Orbits: Structural Power in Space
Space is no longer the exclusive domain of governments. Driven by the hope of substantial profits, private companies are entering orbit and are increasingly becoming key players in space infrastructure. Space is developing its own market dynamics, which are dominated primarily by a few financially powerful companies. The provision of central space infrastructure gives rise to structural power, which, without adequate regulation, can curtail the scope of action of states.
