Professor Kronenberg saw the failed election of the three constitutional judges as a serious test for the stability of the black-red (CDU and SPD) government coalition. In addition, the CDU/CSU (Union) would come under additional pressure due to the demand of the Green parliamentary group to convene a special session on the election of judges this week, according to Kronenberg. The political scientist also pointed out that the Union's decision of incompatibility with the Left Party at federal level should be reconsidered. According to Professor Kronenberg's analysis, the Union's approval for the election of the constitutional judges could have been achieved through an agreement between the two parties. Despite ideological disagreements, the new government coalition should not disappoint the citizens, Professor Kronenberg said.
