According to security expert and CASSIS Fellow Dr. Frank Umbach, the war rhetoric has intensified following the so-called election in Russia. If the attack with more than 100 dead near Moscow is therefore an IS attack, this contradicts the official propaganda, because "the terrorist attack by IS does not fit the Kremlin's image", says Umbach. The attack also makes something else clear, namely Moscow's insecurity before such terrorist attacks.
