Lecture series: "75 years of NATO"

The North Atlantic Alliance is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To date, 20 additional countries have joined the 12 founding states and their goal of standing up for democratic values and peace. They make NATO the defence bulwark of Europe and North America.

Created after the end of the Second World War, the bloc confrontation and the Kosovo War in the second half of the 20th century, the attacks of 11 September 2001 and the current Russian war of aggression in Ukraine are examples of the Alliance's turbulent and geopolitically challenging decades. In addition, NATO has had to adapt to increasingly interwoven global structures and ever more complex defence policy conditions. Technological progress and defence against hybrid threats from state and non-state actors require an increasingly broad and multi-layered Alliance.

The Henry Kissinger Professorship for Security and Strategy Research at CASSIS at the University of Bonn and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation are jointly organising the lecture series "75 Years of NATO". We are looking forward to lectures by German and international experts from academia and practice who will address the history of the Alliance, its institutional and defence policy challenges and its future prospects.

You are cordially invited to attend.
