The Israel-Hamas war in a historical and geopolitical context
Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and the war that followed represent a turning point that can only be understood in the light of decades of developments in the Middle East. Uriel Kashi, tour guide and director of the Beit Ben Yehuda Youth Education Center in Jerusalem, will give an overview of key events such as the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the Arab Spring and global influences such as climate change and the demand for raw materials. He will then turn his attention to current challenges: the political debate in Israel after October 7, prospects for the Gaza Strip, regional effects in Lebanon and Syria, for example, and the possible consequences of Donald Trump's return.
