From Prof. Dr. Heinemann-Grüder's point of view, Putin is attempting to test NATO's air defense on its eastern flank by sending drones to Poland. Russia's aim is to “ fool” NATO and US President Donald Trump, Prof. Dr. Heinemann-Grüder said. The security expert pointed out that only two of the 20 Russian drones sent had been shot down by NATO air defenses. Despite the fact that the Russian drones were unarmed, this action represents a deliberate provocation by Russia. Consequently, NATO must expect Russia to continue its hybrid warfare on its eastern flank, as Prof. Dr. Heinemann-Grüder believes that Russia is currently behaving rather like a “terrorist organization” than a state.
