Construction work has now begun on the major Suedlink project. Starting in 2028, the new direct current route will transport wind power energy from northern Germany to the south. This will also require modernization and digitization of the regional electricity distribution network, says Dr. Frank Umbach, energy security expert and head of the EUCERS cluster.
