The current global situation presents Germany with a multitude of different challenges. The wars in Ukraine and Iran, as well as threats to internal security, endanger Germany's freedom.
The core task of states is to guarantee the territorial integrity, security, and freedom of their citizens.
For a long time, Germany has invested too little to be able to perform this task credibly.

Germany must align its foreign policy actions with clear strategies – both domestic and foreign policy. This is crucial if it wants to compete in the modern world, according to Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schlie.
