The election results clearly indicate that citizens did not believe the coalition’s promise to do everything differently from the previous government. For the SPD in particular, the result is “dramatic.” The SPD-CDU coalition must now focus on taking people’s problems seriously and developing meaningful solutions. 

At the same time, Prof. Dr. Volker Kronenberg emphasized that Alexander Schweitzer, the SPD’s candidate for Minister-President in Rhineland-Palatinate, had proven that centrist politics works.
