Dr. Umbach notes that although Russia supports the BRICS in its rejection of the new US customs policy, it is still interested in maintaining good relations with the US in view of the war in Ukraine. Dr. Umbach emphasizes that the Trump administration is not prepared to impose new sanctions against the Kremlin. The Trump administration is currently “effectively one of Russia's best allies”.
