Prof. Dr. Tao Chen ist Professor am Institut für Deutschland- und EU-Studien an der Tongji-Universität in Shanghai. Seine Dissertation, welcher er 2014 abschloss, beschäftigte sich mit dem Thema „Nationale Interessen versus Ideologie: Die Außenpolitik der DDR gegenüber China, Nordkorea und Nordvietnam während der chinesisch-sowjetischen Spaltung (1960-1977).“ Des Weiteren war er Research Fellow am Institut für Zeitgeschichte in Berlin und an der Nationalen Chengchi Universität in Taipeh. Er hat zahlreiche Artikel über die deutsch-chinesischen Beziehungen und das deutsche/europäische Engagement in Ostasien während des Kalten Krieges verfasst und veröffentlicht.
