In the WDR 5 morning echo interview, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schlie explains that US President Donald Trump is slowly losing patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump has therefore once again approved arms deliveries to Ukraine in order to put Putin under pressure to accept compromises in Ukraine. In Prof. Dr. Schlie's view, Trump is using one of his favorite strategies at this point: Whenever certain developments do not suit Trump's interests, the US president tries to put pressure on other actors, striking a new course. Ultimately, Trump has recognized that Putin does not intend to end the Ukraine war, according to Prof. Dr. Schlie.
