In principle, Germany has the ships and personnel needed to take part in mine clearance operations. However, this always involves risks for the ships and their crews. The mere rumor that mines have been laid is enough to effectively block passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding Germany and its partners’ refusal to enter the war, Dr. Moritz Brake described this as a positive signal. It demonstrates unity and shows that they had coordinated their positions in advance.

In the current situation, Germany can play a prominent role by supporting Ukraine’s efforts to exchange expertise and technology for drone defense against cruise missiles or air defense missiles. At the same time, lessons can be drawn from the war in the Persian Gulf for a potential conflict with Russia. This is in the interest of Germany and Europe.
