Russian hypersonic weapons, such as the Oreshnik missile, represent a new level of threat and are particularly dangerous due to their speed and the resulting narrow window of opportunity for defense. NATO takes this threat seriously, in part because its own defensive capabilities are limited. Nevertheless, Ukraine has already demonstrated that even these weapons can be intercepted using existing air defense systems such as Patriot.
It remains unclear how effective the Arrow 3 system procured by Germany is in defense, as it has not yet been tested.
