Ulrich Schlie gave a lecture at the Munich Foreign Affairs Association on "Henry Kissinger and Germany: 100 eventful years". Prof. Schlie discussed Kissinger's childhood in Fürth and his enduring attachment to the city. In 1975, Kissinger returned with his parents for the award of the city's Golden Citizens' Medal, and Kissinger has also been a fan of the SPVGG Fürth football club since his childhood. In addition, Prof. Schlie discussed Kissinger's relationship with politicians from Bavaria, such as Franz Josef Strauss and former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt.

The event took place on 25 May 2023 at the Institut Cervantes in Munich.

Ulrich Schlie is director of the Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies (CASSIS) and Henry Kissinger Professor of Security and Strategic Studies at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology.
