The Hell of Good Intentions: America's Foreign Policy Elite and the Decline of U.S. Primacy

14. Januar 2019

Lecture and discussion with

Prof. Dr. Stephen Walt
Harvard Kennedy School

In his lecture, Professor Walt presented his new book, The Hell of Good Intentions, on the state of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs. As a representative from the school of Defensive Realism, his lecture was a proposal for a more realist approach to foreign policy in times of global disorder. As he stated in his initial remarks, his lecture was meant to address the two big questions of contemporary politics: How did the current turmoil in international relations emerge after the world had reached a period of optimism in the post-Cold War era when a future of peace and prosperity seemed all but inevitable? And how can we do better?
